  |   blog/news, tours

In November, hundreds of cinephiles from all over the world come to Thessaloniki for the International Film Festival. The city puts on its celebration outfit. Screenings, parties, master classes from early in the morning until late in the evening. For ten days, the city lives in the festival’s rhythm.

Trigiro organize tours around this event. Hike or bike near Thessaloniki, book short tours to discover the secrets of the city´s architecture and the greek local food & wine. In the International Film Festival Tour we mix the trigiro hike & bike experiences with the biggest International Film Festival in Greece and the Balkans.

The Thessaloniki International Film Festival (TIFF), has become one of the Balkans’ primary showcases for the work of new and emerging filmmakers. The Festival is competitive with the International Section jury awarding several prizes each year, most notably the “Golden Alexander” for Best Feature-Length Film.

The Thessaloniki International Film Festival was first held in 1960 as a modest “Week of Greek Cinema”, the Thessaloniki International Film Festival has become, 50 years later, an annual event focused on the discovery and promotion of new directors from all over the world. For ten days in mid-November, audiences numbering approximately 70.000, as well as hundreds of Greek and foreign Festival guests, attend screenings of more than 150 films in the city’s cinemas.

The winner of the Golden Alexander last year was the Mexican movie “La jaula de oro (The golden dream)” from the director Diego Quemada-Díez.
